Enjoy the day in pristine wilderness to locate and identify as many of the 95 plus species of songbirds, aquatic birds and birds of prey as you can fit into your day. Venture out to the back country and set up a blind or walk the local nature trails – a great blue heron might just stop by! Casual sightings are a sure thing along many of the region’s hiking trails, in parks and at resort properties. Venture out on the water to see loons, cormorants, white pelicans, several species of ducks and the mighty bald eagle soaring overhead. Birds like Bald Eagles, Loons, Gulls, Grouse, Woodpeckers and different kinds of waterfowl are the most commonly viewed. For people who take birding and ornithology seriously, Northern Ontario is a gold mine with many different species.
